Welcome to AUMC!

Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Robert Knappage serves as the Lead Pastor of Alamo United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas, where he is passionate about helping people encounter the grace of Jesus Christ and grow as disciples who love God, love neighbor, and serve faithfully in the world.
Robert’s path into ministry has been shaped by a lifetime of service. In addition to pastoring, he serves the community full-time as a Fire Marshal Investigator in Bexar County, specializing in arson and explosive investigations. His work in public safety has given him a deep appreciation for the value of life, the strength of community, and the importance of hope in difficult moments. That same calling to serve and protect continues in his pastoral ministry.
Before coming to Alamo UMC, Robert served as the Associate Pastor at Oak Meadow United Methodist Church, a congregation known as “the little church with a big heart.” There he helped lead worship, preach, care for people, and walk alongside the church through meaningful seasons of ministry.
Robert is currently completing the United Methodist Course of Study as part of his continuing theological formation. His ministry is deeply shaped by the Wesleyan understanding of grace—the good news that God is always reaching toward us, transforming our hearts, and calling us into lives of holiness, compassion, and service.
He believes the church should be a place where people can ask honest questions, find authentic community, and experience the transforming love of Jesus Christ. His preaching seeks to connect Scripture with everyday life in a way that is faithful, practical, and hope-filled.
Robert and his wife, Amy, who is also preparing for pastoral ministry and pursuing her Master of Divinity at Perkins School of Theology, share a deep commitment to the church and to helping others grow in faith.
Pastor Robert would love to welcome you to Alamo UMC and hear your story.
